cash confessional: summary

Total Spending - 1 week: $303.49

Entertainment:   $0.90
Gifts:           $2.71
Restaurants:     $6.99
Mike:            $14.11
Personal:        $16.43
Gas:             $25.00
Groceries:       $86.97
Mookie:          $150.38

Lessons learned:

  • This girl is pretty great at packing a lunch, and not eating out!  Or at least getting good value when I do.
  • We are cheap to entertain!
  • Plan all you want -- the unexpected will happen.  Mookie's Saturday not-our-vet visit was not the ideal situation, but our baby is feeling better and that's what matters!
  • Mike's business expenses were irrelevant to my spending since they were reimbursed from his business account

cash confessional: thursday

The last day of the Cash Confessional coincided with payday, but I will omit any bill-related expenses, since this is mainly focused on the above and beyond day-to-day spending.

Thursday, you guessed it, I packed my breakfast for work.  I actually did treat myself to lunch at Marky's down the street with some co-workers in celebration of payday, and also delicious food.  Picked up a chicken pesto panini with a good ol' side of H20, and it was phenomenal! ($4.99)

I worked until 5, and we had pre-natal class at 6:30, so I packed dinner (really just uneaten lunch haha), and we spent our night at our final class.  Came home and had a snack before taking the dog for a walk and going to bed. ($0)

Total spending: $4.99

cash confessional: wednesday

I told myself that if I behaved all week, and had some of my own spending money to spare, that I was allowed to buy something for myself -- not something I do often!  Being 8 months pregnant tends to make fingers and feet a bit swollen, so when I finished the week off with $35 un-spent (of $40!) I bought myself a swanky silicone ring to go on my fat wedding finger, haha.  ($16.43)

After the usual packed breakfast/lunch for work, Mike picked me up after work, and we went to our Balls & Dolls game where I score kept, and Mike hit a dinger!  We made dinner at home with groceries we picked up earlier in the week.  ($0)

Total Spending: $16.43

cash confessional: tuesday

Back to work today!  I took the bus to work, which I paid for using a bus ticket I found in my wallet that I probably bought 3+ months ago.  Packed my breakfast and my lunch like a good girl!  ($0)

Mike picked me up from work, and I took Mookie out for a play in the backyard, made a Mike-requested dinner of pizza and waffle fries which we had from the grocery store, and then I took Mookie for a walk before sitting down to a Food Network magazine (gift subscription) and the Red Sox game.  ($0)

cash confessional: monday

Today was pregnancy 1, Karlene 0 so I did not go in to work, and ate breakfast and lunch at home. ($0)  Mike printed off some contracts for work ($13.67), grabbed gas and groceries from Superstore ($67.90) before we watched the season 2 finale of Bloodline on Netflix.  We drove out to Dorchester for men's league where the Originals sadly lost 22-4, but I won, because I got a Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe on the way home!  ($2)

Total spending: $83.57

cash confessional: sunday

Lazy Sunday meant lazy cereal breakfast and a light lunch at home ($0) before heading over to my amazing surprise-themed Harry Potter baby shower!  There I feasted like a queen on great snacks, and was spoiled beyond belief!  There was one game that had betting, where I spent $0.90.  Even got to take home some delicious candy leftovers!  Came home and made a light leftover dinner, before settling in to Netflix with the hubby.  ($0)

Total spending: $0.90

cash confessional: saturday

Saturday I ate groceries from home for breakfast and lunch ($0), and got a slow-cooker going for dinner with salsa chicken, using stuff from my Costco run, and the grocery store on Friday. ($0)

Mookie had to go to the vet unexpectedly for some ear problems, and since it's Saturday, we wound up having to use a new vet, which cost us extra, plus her swab and medication.  ($150.38)

We were boarding 2 dogs this weekend, so that was my entertainment for the day, along with my library book, and baseball games from my MLB.tv subscription ($0).

Total Spending: $150.38
